15th Turkey Guitar Meeting (4-7 July 2023)
Faculty members of our Conservatory’s Music Department Prof. Fatih Akbulut, Lect. Arif Türker Gündoğdu, and Res. Asst. Mustafa Çağatay Erol participated in the 15th Turkey Guitar Meeting.
Held between 4-7 July 2023 at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts (Ankara), the event hosted concerts, masterclasses, seminars, and workshops for anyone professionally or amateurly interested in classical guitar. Additionally, instrument makers from different regions of Turkey presented their handcrafted guitars to participants.
Prof. Fatih Akbulut performed in the opening concert on 4 July 2023. In the concert titled “With the Youngsters of Küçükay, Sökmen, and Korad...,” groups formed by some of Turkey’s most senior guitar educators Erdem Sökmen, Bekir Küçükay, and Kağan Korad with their students and young guitarists performed on stage (Prof. Akbulut completed his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Proficiency in Art degrees at Istanbul University State Conservatory under Bekir Küçükay). Akbulut also performed as part of a guitar quartet with Bekir Küçükay, Hande Cangökçe, and Gamze Sözgötürmez. Additionally, on 7 July 2023, he shared his knowledge and experience with participants through the “Guitar Lessons” session.
Lect. Arif Türker Gündoğdu exhibited his handcrafted classical guitars throughout the event at the guitar fair for participants to view and try.
Res. Asst. Mustafa Çağatay Erol performed during the Midday Recital held on 5 July 2023.
